Breaking the cycle of poverty!
In Guatemala, 59% of the people live in poverty. In 2011, students had an average of 4 years of schooling. Only 2 out of 10 students that start school complete the 6th grade and tens of thousands of Guatemalan children never start school. Guatemala has the highest illiteracy rate in Central America.
Many families can not send their children to school because they Iive on less than a $1 a day. These families remains in poverty for generations due to lack of education.
Passion 4 Guatemala believes in giving a hand up to those we serve to meet their most basic needs and to provide opportunities for a better future through education and job training. We believe providing an education to children and adults is the single most important investment we can make to break the cycle of poverty!

Passion for Guatemala shares the gospel of Jesus Christ by impacting his people through personal relationships with those we serve, youth and children’s ministry and meeting basic needs. We break the barriers of receiving a quality education through our Child Sponsorship program and the Education Scholarship program which provides scholarships for middle, high school and university students. We offer reading and writing classes for illiterate adults and various training classes. We also offer job training through Sueño Canastas. We believe a thriving community is also a healthy community. We provide a tutor, social worker, medical and dental care and psychological therapy.
