In Guatemala public education is free through the sixth grade, however, to continue in middle school and high school families must pay tuition for their children‘s education. Only 2 out of 10 students that start school in Guatemala complete the 6th grade. Most of the children quit school and they are left with little hope for a better future. Many try to find jobs in a country where good jobs are scarce and menial, barely paying enough to put food on the table. And the cycle of poverty continues….

Passion 4 Guatemala saw this need for education for these children. Children that excelled academically and dreamed of the opportunity for a better future through education. Parents that desperately wanted a better life for their children but had no financial means to pay for there education.

This golf tournament provides that opportunity for these children.  We have had 10 students graduate from the program. And this year we will have 5 more. There are  29 students receiving scholarships this year and next year there will be up to 35! We have 9 students studying in an accelerated program on weekends and one university student! All five of our graduates this year plan to continue their education in university through this scholarship program.

This is an amazing opportunity to break the cycle of poverty by giving the gift of Education!
