Our Journey… New Beginnings

Chris and I are so excited that our move to Guatemala is only days away. We are incredibly humbled to be writing about being called to join the Lord in all He is doing at Hope of Life International!

Despite the trials and difficulties we have faced this past year, God has taught us so much about how He works out His perfect plan in each of our lives. In just a few short months we have gone from the deepest valley to the highest mountain top! We are seeing the Lord work out His promises from Romans 8:28:

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose”

He has amazed us and continues to show us that His faithfulness goes beyond all we could ever hope to imagine!

In 2010, we walked down the dusty road of Hope of Life village for the very first time. We encountered poverty like we had never seen before. Our hearts broke for these children and we were filled with love and compassion. We are so grateful for how God has used this experience in our life and how He has shown us His love through these precious people.

We went to Guatemala expecting to change their lives but the irony is that they have done more for us than we could have ever done for them! The Lord has continued to draw our hearts to Guatemala. He has called us to go there and serve Him full time.

When the Mount Comfort Guatemala Mission was formed, we claimed Ephesians 3:20-21

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”

We prayed that He would exceed all our expectations and use this ministry in ways we could not have dreamed. He never disappoints! We could not have imagined all He would do through this mission and the many people that support its purpose! We could have never imagined that one day He would ask us to move to live and serve with our family and friends in Guatemala.

As we prepare, pack our bags and anticipate all the goodbyes, I am overwhelmed with so many emotions: Joy, fear, excitement, sadness, a sense of loss and of great gain! I know that God has prepared the way for us! I know we will see great works, not just in Guatemala but right here in the lives of those we love and will be leaving behind. God has shown us exactly where He wants us to be and we want to be exactly where He has called us.

Though this is a very emotional time for us, I must say that mostly we feel grateful! We are grateful to God that he has a plan for our lives. He gives us all a great purpose that is so much beyond all we could have dreamed or imagined. We are grateful that even though the road ahead is a mystery and sometimes scary, He gives us the peace that surpasses all understanding. We are so grateful that He has gone before us to provide for us and make a way! We are overwhelmed by His faithfulness, trustworthiness and love! We are grateful for all of you that have answered His call to support this ministry through your faithful giving, prayers and encouragement! We look forward to continuing to share with you through our journey and all that God is doing in our lives and the lives of those He has called us to serve! Please continue to follow us on our journey and may God bless you all in 2017!

Philippians 1:20 “I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body.”

P.S. We have a mission trip coming up in June 2017. If you would like more information, please check out our mission trips page and message us through our contact page.
